Press Release: Ireland India Council Announces Launch of 10th India Day at Farmleigh House and Estate

Dublin, Ireland –The Ireland India Council proudly announces the launch of the 10th India Day, a vibrant celebration of India's rich cultural heritage and the robust ties between Ireland and India. The event was inaugurated by the Lord Mayor of Dublin, James Geoghegan, alongside distinguished guests including Senator Mr Joe O’Reilly, Deputy Head of the Embassy of India Mr Murugaraj Dhamodaran, Cllr. Joe Fox representing Meath County Council, the representative of the Office of Public Works (OPW) Mr Craig Savage, and several members of the Irish Indian community.

Ireland India Council's Chairman, Mr Prashant Shukla, welcomed the esteemed dignitaries, expressing gratitude for their unwavering support and presence. Co-Chair Mr. Damien Nee also extended his heartfelt thanks to all attendees and participants.

In his opening address, the Lord Mayor of Dublin, James Geoghegan, expressed his delight at being part of this momentous occasion. He highlighted the significance of India Day in fostering cultural exchange and mutual understanding between the two nations. Acknowledging the collaborative efforts of the Ireland India Council, the Office of Public Works, Fingal County Council, and other civic bodies, he remarked, "Together, we are fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of our shared values and diverse heritage," underlining the importance of building bridges of friendship and cooperation.

Senator Joe O'Reilly emphasised the importance of such events in celebrating diversity and strengthening community ties. Mr Murugaraj Dhamodaran, Deputy Head of the Embassy of India, commended the Ireland India Council for its dedication to promoting Indian culture in Ireland and enhancing bilateral relations. Cllr. Joe Fox, representing Meath County Council, expressed his support, underscoring the importance of cultural initiatives in building stronger communities. Mr Craig Savage of OPW reiterated OPW’s steadfast support for India Day which enriches Ireland's cultural landscape.

The launch event featured a s vibrant cultural performance representing the diverse regions and traditions of India. The audience was treated to traditional dances, music, and artistic displays that showcased the rich and varied cultural heritage of India.

India Day, now in its 10th year, continues to be a cornerstone event in celebrating the vibrant tapestry of Indian culture in Ireland. It serves as a platform for cultural exchange, bringing together people from diverse backgrounds to celebrate the shared values of community and diversity.

India Day Celebrates Freedom, Friendship, and Cultural Festivities

 

Dublin 12 August 2023, the much-awaited India Day Celebration is all set to take place on the 13th of August at Farmleigh House and Estate, Phoenix Park Dublin15, where the essence of India's rich culture and the spirit of friendship between nations will be brought to life. The event promises to be an extraordinary gathering of individuals from diverse backgrounds, with the Taoiseach Dr Leo Varadkar, TD's esteemed presence and notable figures from business, culture, and politics.

 

The India Day Celebration is an annual event that serves as a vibrant platform to honour and cherish India's heritage, values, and traditions. It symbolises the deep-rooted relationship between India and Ireland, fostering mutual understanding and collaboration between the two nations.
